To all: b4 reading this entry, pls read the previous entry 1st for logical sequencing.
Yes... so I was right.(I need to attend GP clinic.)
I managed to finish my bloody stats assignment at the offical tiger-time of 5.43am.
For the benefit of mankind,
I feel I have the social responsibilty of explaining the seemingingly illogical & non-sensical sentence...
who knows, it may help u kill some hrs of flipping thru d over 700pges of "Research Methods and Statististics- An Integrated Approach" when ur fate comes.
The phrase proportion of variance was eventually uncovered...(credit to my undying determination & persistence).
not under the heading of "Variance and Standard Deviation", neither was it found under any other kind of "variability" or located in the table of contents... nope, not in my lect notes too...
It was, to my sense of achievement & pride, hiding under the heading of "Coefficent of Determination"(ha! what an irony~)
as the paragraph begins:
'A statistic of interest in both correlational studies and simple regression analysis is the coefficent of determination, which is the proportion of variation in Y-scores that is accounted for (or explained) by variation in the predictor variable- that is, how much of the changes in Y systematically "go with" changes in X. To make sense of this satistic, let's go back to the basic concepts of correlation and variance'
Ha! Lo & behold!
I spotted the eye-catching phrase !!! at page 239.
(have u found it?)
yep..I'm now so enhanced with my new-found knowledge of proportion of variance.
It makes so much sense to me, it's simply unbelievable. *gasps*
Plot the formula in.
now tell me wat derived benefits have the value of 0.305809 say to the qns.
