Mission: Durian Buffet! at Segamat, Msia. Objectives:
1. For the greater good of our family
2. For the greater good of our durian cravings
Costs:
1. $50/pax (total $200)
2. mum skipped her dancing lessons
3. I played absence for my Nike vs Sneakers match.
How sacrificial!
But seriously, it was cuz my dad initiated the outing, mum & I had to give him face. We are from a patriachial family, though I have been trying to overthrow his mandate without much success.
Anyway, I thought only rare species lk my dad would respond & sign up for this trip. To my sleepy surprise, there were a total of 5 coaches awaiting us. Mind u, that's 5 coaches containing 180 civil servants & their family members on the mission.
How grand can that be!
There were retirees, teachers, and god-knows wat departments. No wonder we had a relativiely good lunch and a 8-course dinner.
Some meal highlights:
Cold dish, sharks' fins, herbal chicken, roasted duck, sambal fish, calamari. (thumbs-up!)
On the itenary, we also stopped at Muar for local products shopping. In the evening, we were given 1hr plus at Jusco, a mega shopping mall. (nah, I didn't buying anything except for 2 singlets for my sis.) In addition, I learnt quite abit from our local tourguide who was surprisngly fluent, friendly, dedicated & entertaining to some. Though I found her a little too loud & nosiy.
Some knowledge I learnt frm her:
1. difference between a palm & a tree
(btw, it call a coconut palm, not a coconut tree)
2. natural honey should have no expiry date
4. banana plant (not a tree) only bear fruits once in its lifetime
5. durian trees take 3-4 yrs b4 its 1st harvest
6. 1st durian harvest cannot be eaten, it's usually used back as fertilizers
7. 1 durian tree bears ard 500 durians a yr
...
So did we accomplish our mission?

what do u think ?
